1Who we are
Radio Talaat has traded in electronics and home appliances in Egypt since 1956. We are the controller of the personal data described here.
- Seller: Radio Talaat
- Address: 3 Attaba Square, Downtown, Cairo
- Contact: +20 111 250 0026 · [email protected]
2Children
This site is not intended for children. You must be 18 or over to open an account or place an order. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
3What we collect
- Identity data — your first and last name, and your date of birth if you give it.
- Contact data — delivery address, billing address, email address, telephone number.
- Transaction data — what you bought, the price paid, the payment method, and delivery and return records. We do not store your full card number.
- Product data — the serial number or IMEI of the unit sold to you, recorded in our ERP at the time of purchase and used to verify returns and warranty claims.
- Account data — your username, password and saved preferences.
- Technical data — IP address, device type, operating system, browser type and version, and the pages you visit.
- Marketing data — whether you agreed to receive marketing messages, and in which channel.
4Why we collect it
- To create and manage your account.
- To process, deliver and invoice your orders.
- To verify returns and warranty claims against the serial number we recorded at purchase.
- To handle refunds.
- To answer your questions and resolve complaints.
- To send you marketing messages, where you agreed to receive them.
- To detect and prevent fraud.
- To meet our obligations under Egyptian tax and consumer protection law.
5Our legal basis
Under Article 2 of Law 151 of 2020 we may not collect or process your personal data without your explicit consent, unless another law requires us to. Where a law obliges us — issuing a tax invoice, for example — we rely on that law instead. You may withdraw consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect what we did lawfully beforehand, and does not remove records the law requires us to keep.
6How we protect your data
- Encryption in transit. The whole site runs over HTTPS with TLS. Anything you type — your address, your password, your order — is encrypted between your device and our servers.
- Encryption at rest. Account credentials are stored hashed, never as readable text, and sensitive fields in our database are encrypted.
- We never hold your full card number. Card details are entered on the payment provider's own secure page under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. We receive only a confirmation and the last four digits.
- Access control. Staff see only the data their job requires, under individual accounts, and access to the ERP is logged.
- We never ask for your password, PIN or full card number by phone, email or WhatsApp. If anyone does, it is not us.
No system is completely secure. Keep your password confidential and tell us at once if you believe someone else has used your account.
7Who we share it with
- Couriers and delivery crews — your name, address and phone number, so your order reaches you.
- Payment providers — so your payment can be processed and refunded.
- Brand service centres — where a warranty or defect claim needs their technical report.
- Our technology suppliers — hosting, email and analytics providers who operate the site for us.
- Government authorities — where Egyptian law requires us to disclose.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not allow the companies that work for us to use it for their own purposes.
8Transfers outside Egypt
Some of the services that run this website store data outside Egypt. Where that happens we transfer your data only where the destination offers protection not less than Egyptian law provides, and only on a basis permitted by Articles 14 to 16 of Law 151 of 2020.
The services involved are website hosting, email, website analytics and payment processing. We require each provider to protect your data to the standard set out in this policy, and we review this whenever we change a provider.
9How long we keep it
- Order, invoice and serial number records — kept for the period Egyptian tax law requires, and for as long as a warranty on the product may run.
- Account data — kept while your account is open. If you close it we delete or anonymise your data except what the law requires us to keep.
- Marketing consent records — kept for three years from the last message we send you, as Article 18 of Law 151 of 2020 requires.
- Customer service records — kept for two years after your case is closed.
10Your rights
- To know what personal data we hold about you and obtain a copy.
- To have inaccurate data corrected, updated or completed.
- To have your data deleted.
- To withdraw a consent you gave earlier.
- To restrict our processing to a specific scope.
- To object to processing where it conflicts with your rights and freedoms.
- To be told if your personal data has been breached.
To exercise any of these, call +20 111 250 0026 or write to [email protected]. We will respond within six working days, the period set by Article 32 of Law 151 of 2020.
11Cookies
- Strictly necessary — these keep you signed in and keep your basket working. The site cannot function without them.
- Functional — these remember your language, store view and preferences.
- Analytics — these tell us which pages are used and where people have difficulty.
- Marketing — these let us show you our products on other websites.
You can accept or refuse every category other than the strictly necessary ones, and change your choice at any time.
12Marketing messages
We send marketing messages only to people who agreed to receive them. Every message identifies us as the sender, says plainly that it is marketing, and carries a working way to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and never affects your orders, your warranty or your right to return a product.
13If your data is breached
If your personal data is breached we notify the Personal Data Protection Centre within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, and we notify you within three working days of that notification, telling you what happened and what we have done about it.
14Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your data, contact us first on +20 111 250 0026 and give us the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Centre, and to the Consumer Protection Agency for anything relating to your purchase.
15Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The version published on this page is the one that applies, and the date it was last updated is shown at the top.
