The Electrostar Crystal Cook EG-608HGS wears a black tempered glass cooktop that wipes clean with a cloth and looks right in an open kitchen, and underneath it are five graded burners across the full 90 cm width — a big one for the large pot, smaller ones for everyday pans — on cast iron pan supports rather than pressed steel grids. Self-ignition works on the hob, oven and grill from the front knobs, and full safety flame-failure protection covers all of them, with the grill on its own control and its own safety valve. The gas oven has a fan for even baking behind a double glass door with a full-width handle, and the grill runs a turnspit skewer for chicken. The timer is a mechanical minute-minder, not a digital display, and no lid is supplied.
