The large flare tightens the dispersion pattern and pushes speech far down a street, across a factory yard or over a village, which is exactly why this combination is the standard choice for Egyptian mosque minarets. The driver presents an 8 Ω low-impedance load and covers roughly 160 Hz to 7 kHz, the band that matters for intelligible speech, and it can be connected to a 100 V or 70 V line system through a matching transformer. An adjustable U-bracket allows precise aiming after mounting on a mast, tower or wall.
