The whole plate stays in contact with the fabric, and no water drips onto dark clothes. A rotary fabric dial sets the temperature, from synthetics and silk to cotton and linen. The thermostat keeps the temperature steady. The iron has overheat protection. It does not have steam, a water spray or auto shut-off. It should stand upright on its heel between uses. The iron comes in multiple colors.
