The Smeg is a genuine Italian build from Guastalla, finished in satin AISI stainless steel inside and out, and the hob leads with an Ultra Rapid burner published at 2.9 kW plus four graduated gas burners, under heavy full-width pan supports that keep a big pot rock steady. Automatic electric ignition lights every burner with a single push and turn, and thermocouple flame-failure valves on every hob burner and in the oven cut the gas the instant a flame goes out. The oven is the reason to buy it: 119 litres of gas convection cavity with a fan circulating the heat for genuinely even baking, plus a tangential cooling fan behind the fascia, three cooking functions and a dedicated grill burner on its own knob.
